Melbourne Day One

Since we arrived early Monday morning in Melbourne, the guide said it would be best if we didn't take a nap but try to get ourselves acclimated to the time schedule here. So he took us on a 3 hour walking tour of downtown to help us familiarize ourselves with how the town was laid out and how to utilize the free tram service for getting around. He took most of the group back to the hotel but I spent another hour just wandering around and took some photos. We have our orientation meeting tonight followed with a dinner banquet. Hoping that a nice shower will help revive me enough to stay awake a few more hours.

Here are some of the downtown Melbourne sights.

One of the shopping districts. I could spend some time in this store. Think I gained 2 pounds just taking the picture!

They have turned the little alleys into very attractive cafes and speciality shops.

One of the early churches built around 1870.

The train station. They use a lot of trains for commuting.

They have a beautiful river walk park.

A huge eucalyptus tree.

Don't know what flower this is but it was interesting. Was on a long stem.

Had some interesting art work along the walkway.
